TOTALLY DISGUSTED BEYOND WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe as pissed as I've ever been.
Play nice & have fun!!Smile
Muddy it is very disappointing that this happened, as the site owner I take full responsibility. Thehsvdude who is the system expert has put over a year of hard work into this site but incidents/accidents can't be avoided. When he attempted to restore the backup after installing updates to the site the backups appear to have been somehow corrupted and the attachment data and avatars were lost. Thehsvdude is my son and gets no money for his work, he does it as a hobby and to help me and in turn all the members. We have never run a website before and we are learning as we go along. As Super suggested the best method to store pictures online in safety is to use a service like photo bucket or similar and they will be safe in the cloud and can be linked to the site posts easily.

Job boy... Muddys post just made me realize I lost ALL OF MY PICS TOO! oh boy.... But I still have some saved on my iPad. But not many.
Proud owner of Tomy/Plarail trains. Cool
So sorry reading about the code error. Computer code is not fun and takes a good soul to work it's many lines of brutal dots and dashes. Although I have not been active in some time, I am still here. Please accept my thanks to everyone for this forum. Especially the ones who pay money to host this site, the ones who volunteer their time and the membership who build friendships around little toy trains we all love.

Some times things wear out, break,have accidents, and try as we may, they can't be fixed.

By the way I use Flickr for photo storage. Using today's modern smart phone, it automatically uploads my images just in case I drop the phone in water, etc. I haven't checked, but will, try and upload any missing photos.

Some forums I am on, sometimes, they lose days and weeks of posting, not just photos. That is part of the chance of life. Sometimes, forums even close. I pay for Flickr and still I don't have 100 percent confidence that they will be there when I click their link. I am sure many are disappointed in losing their photos. Don't look back and keep tooting forward just like Thomas.

Passing along a poem that is a favorite for many years. When things get tough what you say and do shows your character, much like our little toy train friends shows how they deal with both happiness and discouragement.

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son.

You can find a list of all the attachments you've posted:

* Go to your User CP (link in the Welcome Back message below the BPT logo)
* In the Menu (on the left) scroll down to the Miscellaneous section
* Select 'Manage Attachments'

From the resulting list you can select any post in which you included an image, then edit it to restore the attachment, preferably (as we now know) by linking to a copy of the image that you've stored in a suitable image storage website.

At least you can choose whichever you consider to be the most important images and restore them, if you still have copies.
