also notice that the bulstrode on the adverising hoarding looks nothing like the bulstrode in the set . makes me think they were pre production models and the ones released will be different

looks the rivets are printed on them. I guess Fisher price wanted to make their engine products more authentic.  Kids don't really care about the rivets on the bodies.

why didn't TMR do this again this year?
coincidence? maybe?
i'm a little out of the loop.

There was a major tentpole release this year. It was the Cave Collapse Set for Digs and Discoveries. The major difference this year from previous years was that there was no 60 minute movie, but a DVD with two 20 minute episodes.

@ dogman, nice to hear from your again.

I mean that sincerly! I know you do a lot of hard work.

However, and no disrepect you, there have been some major, and I mean major differences.

Maybe, and bare with me hear. I am trying to debate.

But maybe, it is not the movies. Because movies, generate merchandise. Merchandise generates ...

Sadly, Mattel wouldn't want to give up being the primary Thomas toy licensee for their Fisher-Price ranges and give another company like Tomy that position. They've got no one else telling them what they can't do anymore.

from the looks of it, the animal masks can be removed.  If matel wants more sales, they should have the characters in a different expressions rather than smiling.
