I'm not sure I want to disassemble it just to take picture of the part, but i'll do it if there is no other way.

it has one AA battery and the on/of lever also behaves like clutch. in OFF position, the wheels spin freely, i think it moves a gear or something.
hope it is enough info to determine what kind of spencer it is.
btw, where could i read more about this trackmaster/tomy/playrail stuff and the differences between the versions? i know there ARE differences because my son has two different thomases
