I found the roof details of the Monorail weird instead of just a flat roof. Could it be they are trying to what a real one looks like even though the real roof doesn't even look like in can be seen in real life?

I guess so. Looks like all the miscellaneous boxes that are normally in and below the floor of a conventional train are exposed on the roof of this one. In expectation that they might approximate to the real thing, I had a search and eventually came up with these...
