I have the SnowStorm Patrick. The speckling looks more like dirt, or cement dust, as the case may be with the character, than snow, IMO, but that might also be due to how the speckling looks against his color scheme.
I don't think it would be all that huge an issue, personally, if you wanted to pretend the specks were dirt on characters like Byron or Buster.

Was Oliver in this range too?

Yep, my Oliver is the snow storm one as well.
