To Snow or Not to Snow - Sodor Construction Co. - Miksolo - 05-01-2016 Hey all. I've been looking into starting my collection of road vehicles, and it seems the most common ones on eBay are the free-wheeling members of the Sodor Construction Company, and especially the "Sodor Snow Storm" versions of them. I just realized the snow storm versions KIND OF make them look like they're dirty, but I don't know just how white it would look in real life. Would you guys suggest using the clean, more expensive versions of the Sodor Construction Co., or do the snow storm ones actually make them look like they've been hard at work, and not just snowed on? RE: To Snow or Not to Snow - Sodor Construction Co. - MuddyPoppins - 05-01-2016 Personally the snowstorm versions are only good for Christmas Holiday layouts...some have heavier coats of of very white paint ranging from misted to speckled than others, but they all look snowy more so than dirty and seem out of place in a regular layout. Many thanks, Muddy! Unfortunately, I can't find a normal Buster, however. RE: To Snow or Not to Snow - Sodor Construction Co. - ripley802 - 05-01-2016 Most of mine are the SnowStorm version. I really only have them on a shelf for display not really in the layout but I sort of like the look. Adds some real ness to the look for me. RE: To Snow or Not to Snow - Sodor Construction Co. - WoodWheel92 - 05-23-2016 I have the SnowStorm Patrick. The speckling looks more like dirt, or cement dust, as the case may be with the character, than snow, IMO, but that might also be due to how the speckling looks against his color scheme. I don't think it would be all that huge an issue, personally, if you wanted to pretend the specks were dirt on characters like Byron or Buster. Was Oliver in this range too? Yep, my Oliver is the snow storm one as well. |
