There were actually two slightly different layouts, using very similar trackplans, just while I tried everything for size, as they needed to be portable enough for exhibitions and also, be able to fit in the available space at home.
The layout on the polystyrene foam base, turned out be be a bit too big to fit in the car, so, eventually, I concentrated on the layout built on an old door.
If the polystyrene layout had stayed permanently at home, I would have continued developing it further, as it was easy to carve riverbeds and other features, where as the door is more robust for exhibitions.
