SEIBU 001 SERIES „Laview“

The Seibu 001 series (西武001系), also known as „Laview“, is an electric multiple unit (EMU) train type operated by the private railway operator Seibu Railway on limited express services in the Tokyo area of Japan. It was developed out of the necessity to replace the older New Red Arrow Seibu 10000 Series. This coincided with the 100th anniversary of the company’s Ikebukuro Line, which runs between Ikebukuro Station and Hanno Station, leading to the decision to adopt a new flagship train that would mark the beginning of the company’s second century. Seibu Railway decided to go in a new direction in the development of this luxury limited express train, entrusting its design to world-renowned architect Kazuyo Sejima, and including Hitachi to handle manufacturing of the rolling stock.

The name “Laview” was explained as “L” for luxury, “a” for arrow-like speed, and “view” because of the train’s extra-large windows. The new train is meant to “move seamlessly between urban and rural environments and adapt to each landscape”.

Very unusual, futuristic and fairly luxurious train for everyday commuting purposes, I'd say!

You got me bouncing in my chair again with you choices of music Mr No, nice choices!

I had 2 of these pre-ordered but cancelled it when it became known the those weren't real working lights in the lead engine. It looks like it would be easy to install them yourself. I had plans to customize it into a space themed train. The front actually looks like a space helmet.

This one is going to be great as a space themed train; it looks like something from Star Trek!
The lights, are not real, true. There is just this switching-the-type-of-the-lights gimmick:

 

There is a little switch on the roof for that changing of lights. Maybe you can install real lights yourself using the existing switch for ON/OFF, so you can have lights even when the train is not moving?

Great idea Mr No. I don't think the switch can be used for electrical as all it does is slide plastic right? But...the opening for that switch looks to be perfect for fitting a light switch though.

I love taking trips down the streets of your Town Mr No. Have you thought of getting a setup for doing a ride on camera for a cab view of the Town?

Yes, in the matter of fact, I have thought of "driver's view" videos, but all in good time, I still have to do some classic videos... Also, I have this idea to make videos of my train lines - one line per video, station by station. I have 5 loops and 5 main lines, but there are even more possible lines because my loops/lines are interconnected with the points (except the mountain line which is separated from the rest of the system).

Now when I'm thinking of it -- I could make those "station by station" videos in a "driver's view" ("cab view") form too... 

I am just blown away by your camera angles, timing, transitions, and strategic pans within shots!!
Your ability, sensibilities, and techniques for capturing the essence of not only the engines, but the very subtle nuances of their interplay within the layout, creates such an amazing delicate atmosphere that I cannot even believe it.

WEST EXPRESS GINGA — COMFORTABLE LONG-DISTANCE „GALAXY“ TRAIN

In September 2020 JR West introduced the West Express Ginga train (Ginga means „galaxy“ or „Milky Way“ in Japanese). It's a new long-distance train linking key areas of western Japan, and it can operate either as a daytime or overnight service. The six-car West Express „Galaxy“ Train offers a different type of beautifully designed seating in each car. There is also a lounge for first class passengers, and car 2 is ladies only with 3 couchettes and 14 reclining second class seats. The train is born from the concept of enjoying train travel for everyone from young families to senior citizens.

The train’s basic form has a vintage appearance (because it has been created by remodelling a 6-car JNR 117 series train that was first introduced in 1979), which is enhanced by its new exterior colouring: a deep lapis lazuli blue which symbolizes the rich colour of the beautiful sea and sky of western Japan. There are also white lines on the sides of the train that represent the long distances it will travel and the hope that this train will have a nice and long future!

Plarail model is a classic three-car train with a gimmick: you can put the Plakid that comes with the train in second or third car of the train. The colour of the roof is a bit too much pink, but overall the train looks nice and elegant. It is equipped with the new Plarail one-speed-motor, and it's rather fast.
