Plarail Capsule Question - Super - 03-31-2018

Does anyone have any Plarail Capsule trains that might help me with this question? How does the coupling compare to a regular sized Plarail coupling? I would think it would be shorter but how about width and does it have a hole in the other end like a regular one that fits over a post. If possible a side by side picture would help.

All I've got are the smallies and Skiff, and they both have static, unmoving couplings, without the little notch in them. It's just a solid loop.

I've got plenty of capsule models at home, I'll post some pics and side by side comparisons for you tomorrow when I get there Smile

As I recall they are for the most part just smaller versions of the full size ones, but I'll confirm that Smile

Many thanks Nigels. Hope you are enjoying your Holiday in Cornwall.

Hi Super,

As promised here's some pics of some capsule models, an EF loco plus some Cassiopia Coaches, I've tried to get some close ups of the connectors, if you have any further ideas let me know.

Thanks Nigels

This is the one I was curious about. Do these come off easily to lay down next to a regular sized holed connector for a comparison?

RE: Plarail Capsule Question - Nigels - 04-02-2018

To be honest I don't know, I've never tried to disassemble one, I'll have a look see if they can be unscrewed etc... but if they're welded I'll not break one - unless I can dig out an old tatty one.

Just so you know the one on the carriage has a small gap in it, the one attached to the EF loco doesn't, so it seems they do vary from model to model a little...

RE: Plarail Capsule Question - Super - 04-02-2018

Thanks Nigels but don't don't force open any on my account. The one I was curious about is with the split and seems to be more like the regular Plarail size as it moves side to side where the one without the slit looks to be stationary. The one with the slit also looks to be a bit longer. I might have to buy one from the Japan auctions but I would hate to have to pay all the Fees and double shipping on such a little thing only to find out it may not be what I am looking for.

RE: Plarail Capsule Question - Nigels - 04-02-2018

If you don't mind me asking Super, what do you need it for? Knowing that may help me to confirm if it would be suitable...

RE: Plarail Capsule Question - Super - 04-02-2018

I wondered if they can be used on a regular Plarail car or engine for a shorter version which would keep tenders or rolling stock closer together. Currently I cut and drill a new hole in a regular sized one to shorten it but I don't like doing that to my black couplings.
