Was there any general retail versions released to the public of the C-62 where a used up one would be easy to find?

General retail releases are:
Sets: "Sound C62 Set", "蒸気機関車 鉄三勇士", "歴代つばめスペシャルセット", "スーパー列車大集合セット -新幹線・SL・貨物列車" . There is a C62 60th Anniversary Set, but I don't know whether it has the weights so don't try.
Also realised that TOMY never made a general retail release of a single item C62, except the first generation C-62汽笛入り which is too hard to get now. The single item C62 are normally railway museum related or event limited.

The C-61 20 that I have does not have a weight in the cab so cross that one off the list for Muddy to look for.
I agree with the single item purchase preferably one in terrible condition as removing the weight would only mean that now you have a black C-62 that has trouble with the slopes although gluing a different weight in its place may work for a junker. Or just keep it in a junker box for parts.
