I used the pictures that I posted in Nigel's thread first as I already had them on my phone. The cover it seemed to translate pretty well but the middle it had some issues and did not look right. But if the photo is clear, good lighting, and flat it seems like it would work fine.
The benefit if sort of looking at what's being translated sort of real time is that you can see what the text is quickly, and can move the phone (or other device) around to see if the translation changes or anything. For example some of mine showed as just one letter, then after repositioning it showed a full word. Likely something with how the Japanese language is, maybe a character can be a letter and mean a word too?

Oh...so the App doesn't translate into like a text sheet or document. You have to be reading it on your phone in real time. Do I have that right? So if I sent you a picture you could see the translation on your phone but you couldn't send me anything back unless you typed it up yourself which would be a lot of work.

It actually works both ways. You can hover over the text and it will show in the fly the translation or you can load an image and it will pick the text out and translate. From there it can be copied and pasted like I did with the cover sheet on the Dr Yellow instructions. I would be happy to give it a shot for you.

Just copy and paste. It is very cool. For the image that you want to get the text from it let's you use your finger to highlight the text too.
