You could just search Ebay using O scale buildings or S scale to get an idea. Also, I believe Plasticville is S scale in size and they have lots of neat stuff.
What gauge is the Tomy line?

When using smoke box doors To deface engines, I search for 00 gauge which doesn't seem a million miles out, in fact it seems really close, there are lots of bits available for 00 gauge too, just search hornby,

Right you are Tramp. Had to check the UK seller I have gotten mine from and yes, he lists them as OO. Never much looked at that as I was always looking at the diameter measurements. I have yet to find a seller in the USA that sells smokebox doors so I have been getting them from your neck of the woods. Thanks
Well I'm sure they are availible elsewhere but hornby is big in the UK! Especially for children, I had a 00 gauge hornby set when I was younger, I only ever had a single loop of track for it - my cousin had a lot more. 00 also seems pretty popular with serious modellers too, I think it's because of the size, you can appreciate tge detail, Graham Farish seem to be quite good at the moment too (in both 00 and N) and their 'scenecraft' range of scenery is really good, ( most of my buildings are scenecraft)
