Ghosts and Tank Engines:
Winston the Red Engine:
First up, my finished model of my interpretation of the ghost engine from "Scaredy Engines". The name "Winston" is a reference, not to the inspection trolley, but to a fan name used for the Red Engine who appeared in the RWS version of "The sad story of Henry". I originally wanted him to be in a livery like james', but I didn't have the right shade of red and had no time to get more paint. So I improvised with a livery inspired by the one worn by Midland Railway/LMS engines. I think it turned out fine in the end.
The Iron Giant:
The Iron Giant is my favourite custom I made last month. Made out of at least 3 Gordon's (broken childhood spares came in handy) this custom used alot of new techniques and I think it turned out great. Really proud of the weathering, as well as the face. (Still unsure if I should show it considering the amount of cutting I did to it.)
Casper:
My interpretation of the ghost engine from "Ghost Train" this custom is the one I'm the least happy with. Its really just the paint as it's not the same shade as the other green tomy engines. If I had time I would have ordered some TS-22 tamiya paint but again, no time. Also yes the name "Casper" is indeed a reference to the friendly ghost.
Timothy:
Timothy is an odd one. I found him really scary and interesting as a kid, but now I can't take him seriously in any way. Ah well, made him for the funny regardless. Made from a thomas with a few mods, he's the simplest custom I made last month. I opted for no lining as I thought it looked nicer (plus I couldn't be bothered).
An Old Tender:
Made in roughly a day, this is made out of a spare trackmaster Gordon tender, just repainted and weathered. Not much to say except I took it into college recently and I ended up being able to use in a few photos which was fun.
Ryan:
My newest engine, Ryan didn't need too many mods. I painted in missing details, gave him a new middle wheel from an old trackmaster 2 ryan I had. I also painted in his mouth. Not much to say, he runs fine and is a nice addition to the collection.
Thomas, Rosie and Oliver:
These three all have the same mod, that being I replaced their middle wheels with ones from trackmaster 2 trucks. I think it really improves the look of them. Oliver I have a bit more to say as I had previously replaced his funnel and repainted his face. I also have a mod planned to improve tomy Oliver. Because as we all know, in terms of design Oliver isn't the best. I plan at somepoint (whenever I get a spare Oliver as I've learned my lesson on drastically modifying your only working tomy Oliver) to move the front wheels forward as well as reposition the wheel arch. Something like this:
