Cranky - gears?

8 Replies, 11146 Views

Guys

Cranky, in the set below, has stopped turning and it appears there is a small cog or part missing.

I guess no spares are available, so wonder before I go into the garage, has anyone else had to make this repair?

Thanks in advance

is he pushed down flush to the base, with no gap between them?

I don't have one myself but from the picture it looks as if Sunhuntin does Smile
ive got one, but thats not my pic. i do know it has to be flush for the gearing to engage. no idea otherwise!

I knew that wasn't your picture but with what you mentioned it looks like there is a gap between Cranky and his base in Best Gears picture.

Hi Guys

Thats not my picture either! - I stole it from elsewhere so I could show you the item I had the problem with!

Sorry for the confusion!

The base is fully down, but there appears to be a small "cog" missing from the base - the actual base has a toothed wheel, and the base of cranky has a square "peg" - hence I assume the cog is a clutch like the engines have and there will be a spring missing too.... all assumption of course!

My plan B would be to fit cranky permanently to the base and make a permanent coupling between the mechanism and the shaft controlling him.
