I suppose these tracks will be very useful for youtubers that are making those wild plarail crashing videos!  Big Grin

found it on ebay but i have no interest in paying $50+ for that piece.  High speed will certainly derail the trains

Geesh...$50...way cheaper to just buy the Plarail/Tomy one.
exactly.  A double crossover R15 does the trick.

Although R15 double crossover would need someone controlling it to switch the directions otherwise it's either set to one crossing only, or gets reverted to straight through on both tracks if train from opposite direction arrives.

This one forces trains to always cross onto the other track.

Limited application and certainly something I'd rather avoid. Controlling multiple trains is a challenge anyway on larger tracks. Unless someone is looking to get some crashes.

Agreed

You could always do two of that lower R15 straight through side to straight through side with gender changers inbetween to force crossovers from either direction if you really wanted to make this crossover piece from real track. It would be at least twice the length plus the gender changer length however

I think it would be kind of fun to play around with to be honest

to this day, I still don't understand how does the second piece of the R-15 works.

Approaching from the female connector side trains go straight over it, approaching from the male connector side trains cross over to the opposite track. It's similar to the Y-point included in that opposite direction station where when one train arrives the other leaves, where the trough the wheels ride inside is lowered to cause the crossover but approaching from the other direction leaves it unaffected other then a very small drop.

There is a set with a version of the rail with stickers that explain how it work visually, let me see if I can find it.
