Curious if anyone knows which motor style is in the Plarail Chuggington Puffer Pete(CS-09?)

Holy Cow...the prices have gone way up since they discontinued the Chuggington line. I am not exactly sure but by the looks of the shape and how the battery enters from the bottom, my guess would be it is similar to the newer C-11, C-12 steamer which I think uses a Thomas type motor but you probably surmised the same. Since I have a high dislike for Chuggington, I'll probably repaint them into their real life prototype locos as additional customs.

Wilson would be repainted into a EMD F3
Harrison would be repainted into the Union Pacific Railroad M-10003.
- This would include removing the facial features.

I was curious to see if maybe they were the same style motor as the Disney steamers/Benkai/etc... doesn’t sound like that is the case. :-(

It still could be as I am only assuming, I hope someone who has one can give us an inside picture of the workings. If I ever get my hands on another one I certainly will if not to answer my own curiosity. Have you seen this video from BPT Member Powerful Gordon Mike about his making of an axle gear with molds? The first thing I thought of when viewing this was you and all the problems that Plarails Western Steamers have with cracking gears. His gear came out perfectly and I wondered if this method could reproduce the different gears that replacements can't be found for in the steamers. If you haven't seen it check it out here and let me know what you think?

Yes I have seen his video and I have actually made molds for the western steamers.. The firs molds I made I planned on drilling a hole for the axle so I plugged the holes befor casting. That did not work out so I made another set with the hole unplugged. They turned out better but I need to use a different resin.

I believe the one PGM made he mentioned using a bit of super glue to attach, which I believe is probably due to the fit being a bit loose due to the resin shrinking a bit. I wish I had someone I knew who I did machining and had a plastic injection mold machine that would be perfect. I have even purchased a pressure pot to reduce the bubbles in the resin.

I will give them another try, but they are odd shape too which makes it interesting.
