Super.. This set has been released since Apr. 2016.
This set is not regular E5 but this train is new type of E5 named H5 Hokkaido. Purple band is symbolic of "Lavender flower" which is famous in Hokkaido.

As Mod said this is indeed the H5 series that runs up in Hokkaido. Aside from the paint and I believe interior stylings they are the same as the E5 series. I believe this set also included alternate paper skins for the controller that represent the E6 and E7?

Ah...so I did miss it or more probably just don't remember. Still, I would consider it a new generation since it was released only 2.5 years ago. I would assume that the electronics are much updated since the technology has had to improve. I know that the original iteration had a short operating distance and the signal would be interrupted if something was in the way which the IR (Infra Red) technology of the time wasn't that great. I wonder if they still use IR and didn't change to a signal based technology.

This Controller does look a bit thinner/less bulky than the originals in the pictures but I don't see a 'Light' button so I have to assume that the engine has no lights which would be a disappointment (the originals did). I also notice an 'A & B' Band switch so I am wondering if this one controller can operate 2 different trains at once?
