fun runs world, thanks to AOF04

member AOF04 messaged me the other day after finding some fun runs on a local auction site. i managed to get the lot for $30. as ever, more photos on my site: https://sunstomyandfriends.weebly.com/to...world.html

one destination is missing parts, one of the cars no longer pulls back and there is one vital track missing that connects to the destination via two tabs. on the whole though, delighted to have this lot in the collection. will aim to use them in a layout next year, with any luck.

first up, the car wash. this is missing a piece under the road that would poke up through the holes. not sure what purpose it served, and have asked an ebay seller if they can share what it did. the white bits are the original rubber band that went between the rollers. sadly, it has broken, so will try and replace it with a piece of elastic.

next, the burger stand! this has lots of moving parts, such as a pop-out meal and rotating sign.

and on to the vehicles! the taxi gear box was somehow missing a gear or two, but several other cars were doubles so i was able to swap the box out. i love the little faces!!

I am not sure I have heard of these before. Might they be a New Zealand thing? Where does the Pop out meal come out at in the Burger Stand. I had a good chuckle when reading the name of the burger place....not sure that would draw the business [Image: giggle.gif]

i think they were UK only, though a few made it over here possibly with family that travelled for work and brought stuff back for the kids? the same must have happened with UK exclusive care bears.
i have never found any fun runs in the hundreds [thousands] of thrift shop visits i have made in shops all over the country, and only 4 lots on the auction site. theres a bit on ebay uk, but they go for quite a bit, and post is prohibitive.

in saying that, there is a fun runs sticker on ebay that appears to be in german, so maybe it was sold there? its hard to say if the sticker is original or reproduction.

the meal pops out of the green rectangle next to the person when the white button on the roof is pressed. at the same time, a thank you sign appears in the order window. you are right about the name. i must have been tired to not notice that!

Oh Wow, thats neat, an Ad showing the combination of both the original Tomy Trains and those Fun Run's. I like what looks like a Lego compatible Tomy Station
