Totally Impulsive

This was a totally impulsive purchase as this is so cute. The unusual Eizan Railway’s “Hiei” Tourist Train. The more I looked at this the more it appealed to me so much so I had to buy 2. Dodgy

I've been eyeing them up as well! Are you going to take one out of its box to show us?

That’s an odd but still cool looking train. If I was ever going to spend time in Kyoto Prefecture, I would definitely want to ride it! I could almost imagine building a Plarail layout with the famous maple tree “tunnel” to run it on. I’m not sure if this train ever uses that line but it would look cool anyway.

Weird little factoid: Aside from the Shinkansen, Eizan Railway is one of the few 4 foot 8 1/2 inch lines in Japan.

For something that is advertised as a 'Tourist Train' I am underwhelmed with the interior of the real thing. It sure isn't set up with Tourists in mind especially if those tourists want to look out the window. The seats face each other and that whole middle sect is for standing room holding on to the rings. And if you look where the placement of the overhead rings are, right over the seats, those that are sitting would most likely have someones butt or crotch in their face. The interior is just like what would be in a normal urban train or subway car.

I see what you mean about the interior. It’s basically just a commuter train with perhaps a slightly more flashy finish. Man, that’s really disappointing!

Yeah it looks a lot like the interior of the newer London underground trains, made to be cattletrucks with the intention of getting as many people onboard as possible...
