Weights placement Steam along Thomas

12 Replies, 9512 Views

Dear all, I was trying to fix my son's steam along thomas tender and was dismantling the rear engine when a weight (cylinder) fell out.

Can anyone advise me where is the location of the weight? I cant seem to find a place to slot it in.

Thanks again.

my educated guess will be the spots on the side between the wheels
Hello Kamchuan and welcome to BluePlasticTracks.

If anyone would know for sure it probably would be Mr Ripley802. Myself, I have not had a Steam Along opened up yet...at least I don't remember opening one up. Hopefully he will be by soon to help out.
Hello there.. are you for sure that came from the coach (Motorized portion). I just took a spare one apart and did not see a cylinder weight in there. Could it have come from the engine part?

PS, welcome to BPT.. :-)
Isn't this the weight for the motor?

Yep, that one sits right behind the motor. By engine I was referring to the Thomas (non-Motorized) engine.

Thanks for the help. I was busy fixing up James as well before fixing Thomas. I don’t think it was from Thomas as I have not opened it yet. The steam is working fine so I have not taken it apart yet. The problem was the rubber tracks had melted in the coach wheels so I dismantled it first.

For James, can I verify 2 cylinder weights in the front compartments? I was fixing that before Steam along James.  Sheesh, I should really be more careful dismantling the trains.

If I remember correctly, I think James uses 2 weights between the front axle but we should wait for someone who knows for sure as its been quite a while since I had a James apart.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong with the wiring? It was working when i took it apart to fix the rubber tracks.
