it is entirely up to the collector whether they open or not, and it is not for anyone else to judge what that person chooses to do.

i dont know what kind of a box this engine would come in, but most other metallics come in one without windows. the gold thomas i think came in a standard box with windows, so could easily have been left sealed and unplayed with as would still be able to be seen. ones like my pokemon gold cant be seen unless opened, so opened it is, though stored carefully to prevent rubbing.

everyone knows mint boxes add hugely to the value in years to come. i dread to think what supers "future world" collection will be worth in years to come!
