The search lights are decorative

That's a pity, I know of a Hornby Triang version in the Battle Space range (from the 60's/70's) that actually has a working search light, sometimes progress isn't always progress

Ohhh...I wish it were a working light. My first thought when seeing these were if I could make it working with a 3 volt coin cell, wouldn't that be cool.
I did come up with where the brown and green one came with... Mavis's Late Night Track Repair set which explains why I couldn't find it before as I was using Searchlight as my search keyword. ![]()
I have never seen that variant before! Where did you find that green light searchlight?
I actually saw it on Ebay with Belle but I don't think it came with her since I couldn't find a release of her with this Searchlight. I wonder if that design on the deck is a clue to what set it came with? Anyone recognize it?.
Due to the generosity of this great seller that had this different Searchlight car Listed we now have it in our collection. Here is a picture of the 3 we know of. All 3 have 2009 Mattel on the bottom There is a slight difference in the one with the white search light as its light housing is a tad bit deeper than the other 2 which are identical. Having this in hand I can now see the design better and have found where its from. It has a lifesaver in the middle with the letters SSRC stands for Sodor Search and Rescue and it came with a James release. Is this a rarer release as you just don't see this much?
EDIT: The Trackmaster Wikia has "Prototype" on its page. Maybe Jdogman can chime in on this? http://thomastrackmaster.wikia.com/wiki/...and_Rescue ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
