Question about 2015 Pla-Rail Gordon
10 Replies, 10856 Views
I had thought, that when Plarail released the new Gordon with special side rods that it would be the norm for all trains that have side rods in the future. They can be transferred to other engines as long as the length is the same and there is clearance above the new part. I would have to see the rods on Percy before I could vote whether they look good on one or the other.
So you are going to buy a newer Plarail Gordon and remove the rods?
As long as they fit, I think that any of the Plarail steamers would look better with these as long as they fit. Speaking of these speacil rods...off the top of my head I can only picture 2 trains that have unique side rods...this one from the Newer Plarail Gordon and the Plarail or Trackmaster Dennis. Are there any others???
The rods are hard to pull out. Use a plier.
NVM, I think the rods don’t look good on Percy anyways, they don’t even match Percy’s side-rods.
I probably should've guessed what the question would be.
These new modified rods were designed for Gordon to recreate the eccentric rods from his middle driving wheels (though I personally still prefer the older Plarail design with the longer rods that fit into the cylinders): Percy's connect to his valve gear from the rear: (Both screenshots from the TTTE Wikia). As you said, the 2015 Gordon rods would look wrong on Percy unless you were to add an extra piece joining the high and low ends diagonally: (04-02-2018, 07:39 PM)Super Wrote: Speaking of these *special rods...off the top of my head I can only picture 2 trains that have unique side rods...this one from the Newer Plarail Gordon and the Plarail or Trackmaster Dennis. Thanks for the nice, detailed, description Da-lag, I didn't know that about Gordon and Percy. And for the list of other unique rods. So I can assume that the newer Plarail Gordon and Dennis are the only longer, wheel to wheel, rods?
I suppose so. I went through the TTTE Wikia galleries of the "Motor Road & Rail" and "TrackMaster" articles for reference. All the other "unique" coupling rods that aren't just standard ones in unusual colours do not move.
