Super, I have also done a few mods and fun stuff inspired by some of your posts and youtube videos. I'll get around to posting someday!

You can use a Disney Mickey Mouse westerm streamer battery cover to replace the one that's missing.

@Kmott

I would love to see your customs. Why don't you start your own Thread titled something like 'Kmotts Customs' or something where you can Post all your inventions and ideas. [Image: happy-yes-smiley-emoticon.gif]

So, small update here. There are 3 types of gears that I ordered for repairs/replacements on the Western Steamers. Unfortunately the one that showed up the other day was wrong. The spec from the seller seemed to be off a bit from what was listed. I think I found a suitable replacement from another seller and have them ordered. The second type of gear arrived yesterday and the third is slated to arrive some time this week. I also found some material to make the gear shaft I believe which is also in the way. More to come.. As someone who has been frustrated with trying to repair this type train I am excited to hear more of your diligent efforts. Which gear that arrived that is a good match?

@Super, the gear that has arrived so far is the flat larger one. It is in the pick with the arrow on the top. The one with issues was the double gear one and the one still to arrive is the one with the teeth on the inside/facing down.

Well I may have spoke too soon.. Dodgy the gear I thought was going to work is actually about 1mm to large. I have one more possible solution so I am checking in to that. I may end up needing to go the route of less/more teeth and the right diameter which should be fine, maybe even make them climb a bit better? Stay tuned. Big Grin

A little success.. Big Grin. This gear now I have a replacement for. As you can see the teeth are a bit different, but it seems to work. I am still playing with the placement on the shaft to make sure it is in the right location and runs smooth, but first tests are good. Here are a few shots of the old (white) gear and the new replacement. The others are still en-route from China.
