I don’t think I have seen this one before but in a few searches the past few days it seems to be popping up quite a bit. I like the look of it as well.
You are right Ripley, these unboxing videos are new also. I thought I might like it too until I saw a couple unboxing videos. Very disappointed in the gray/silver windows especially that windshield, just looks bad. The embossed details are nice tho. It also seems like the point of the front end isn't as prominent to the real train. But it is always nice to see new trains by Plarail especially Limited Edition, site specific non-retail releases.
I must say it’s a very nice train, loving that metallic blue finish
Just saying, since it has no item number (like s-29 for example) it leads me to believe that it is a special release of some sort and is site specific. The packaging and box art also tells me that this release is quite recent

That’s pretty nice looking. I’ve got to agree with Super that silver-gray window treatment isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing choice. I see WHY they did it, since it contrasts with the dark blue and black color scheme. It just looks a bit too stark, I guess.
I recall they did the same thing on the coaches in the C58 SL Ginga set and I felt ambivalent about those too.
The biggest difference in the SL Ginga and this one is the Ginga's windows and graphics were all flat painted on the flat sides of the coaches where on this Sagami at least the windows, doors and details are embossed and have depth. Which is why I kept the C58 engine and sold off the coaches. At least they weren't a whole stickered sides, I would have surely kept them if they were embossed graphics for our coach collection.
Re: 'that windshield, just looks bad' I agree
I assume you are talking about the Sotetsu 20000 with the big gray windows?
