The Vicarage Orchard ~ Layout table upgrade progression

It's not the layout...engineering the tracks and features IS the fun part! Even when "I've got it!" gets lost to a "I had it?" I love the process of setting up a layout... The issues are with the actually table building. From a temporary throw up table that was then made permanent, to this retopping with my poorly executed router cuts that I thought I could just sand down smooth (fine dust is getting everywhere) and nothing to use as trim to cover the now curved exposed plywood edges...having to make concessions and settling for less when the idea was to improve with more just isn't what I had hoped for.
I'm still scratching my head what to trim the edges with.too:/

I think I have a good idea for ya but I have to try to remember what its called.

??????????????????????????????

I'm back and what I was thinking about is called Plastic 'T' Molding. Just run a 1/4" groove around the whole Layout and pushing in the molding for a nice look and durable edge. The is also the idea of using Edge Banding in either Peel and Stick or heat activated with the use of a home iron and comes in colors or wood grained finish.. Rockler (Links) is always has been my go to place to find specialty items but I am sure you might find these items available elsewhere. Plus I would imagine there are installation videos on YouTube to see exactly if they would work in your situation. The T Molding is probably the best for durability and longevity but with it comes a little more work and mess (routing) than the stick or iron on veneer.

Also, another idea would be to check out the weather stripping aisle at your local home center for a cheaper and easy method. Check out all the stripping to see if there is something that you could use in your situation. It may look good and could provide some protection from bumps. I would stay away from the foam types and stick with either the rubber or silicone types. There are more that could help you but here are A couple examples ...

SUCCESS!!
It functions.
BUT, I don't want to spoil anyone's appetite so I'm going to spend the day dressing it and hopefully post an appropriate first run before dark.
