Is Muddy getting into the Tomica World/Japanese plarail?
I just noticed the recent posts gravitating to them! Big Grin

Wow, that’s an awesome looking set! There’s a really interesting mix of motive power too.

Yes, there are really only a few Thomas trains left to find, but quite a few of the non-Thomas trains that I must have!! The set that you have is one of them, but I can't seem find a nice used one...then stumbled on this! It's basically the same I think, except it comes with the red engine, and a few less Plakids.

Lol...it would take another lifetime to attempt a "collect them all" non Thomas Plarail collection, so I'm only gonna try to complete certain subcategories, and work towards procuring the ones that I really admire.Smile

I've been searching the Internet for more info on this set (thank you Super for the two links), but I haven't found very much other than it was a ToysRus exclusive, and is listed as, and is called: "Takara Tomy Plarail EF81 DD51 Connecting sleeper car set" other sites listed it with: "Tsunago" in the title or discription, but no other details about when it was released, or any general information about it what so ever.:/
If anyone knows of a site or a link that might have...
BPT?
Could it be listed in Ripley's catalogue archives??

Doesn't the word "Tsunago" mean connect in Japanese as in ? At least thats what some Online translators say.

I would guess that since it looks to be a Toys R Us Exclusive it wouldn't be in the retail Plarail catalogs but what do I know? It would be worth a try to browse them to see if this set is listed.

Still available on Amazon Japan??? https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B002...dac1b2cd72

I hope this helps (I teach Japanese foreign language at my hs). It basically translates to "let's connect a lot blue train set". According to the guy in the video, it's from 2002.

I have a bunch of Plarail stuff and I go to Japan once a year and I love going to the stores but it's really endless. There is just so much stuff to buy. I've really cut down. The retail stores have all the stuff you can buy online (of course you save a bunch on shipping!) but finding rarer older stuff can be harder.
