Rod colours

I wasn't sure if there already was a thread devoted to color components of trains so far. I come searching for answers related to that.

Are there any other engines which have different colored coupling rods, aside from white or dark grey, like Stepney who of course has red? I could have sworn I saw yellow but now i am uncertain. Any and all assistance is appreciated

Lady and Proteus both had gold traction rods, but other than that I am as clueless as you, my friend.

Yes there are yellow ones in the longer rods, not sure if they came in the shorter ones. Off the top of my head and besides the ones already mentioned above I can't think of any other colors but for some reason pink sticks in my head.

Ahhhh yes...checking out Sunhuntins great web site I see that the more recent Western Disney trains have variety of rod colors like pure white, black, burgundy and a short dark yellow pair on Woody from Toy Story's engine. Now that you have brought the subject up and even though I already own most all those Disney trains, I am now going to have to pursue some junk Disney trains just to grab some of the different colored rods for customs. Is that why you brought this up WoodWheel? Thinking about a custom?

Was he ever released with black side rods? I don't believe I have ever seen one but then I may have and thought they were painted. Now I have to keep an eye out for one of those too as I would love me some black side rods. His tender looks a bit odd in the picture, longer maybe? The wheels look far apart. Wonder if Douglas was also released with black rods unless they thought that each with a different color rod would be a way to tell them apart.

Nah, the black siderods were on the prototype model only. The retail release has white ones. The prototype can be seen running in this Plarail Promotional Video from 1998, as well as other prototypes:

I was hoping they did release those black side rods. Well now I know if I do see them on Donald that its could be a prototype. Thanks Star.

I was actually! A custom, maybe two. Knowing there's such an array of colors out there fascinates me. Forgot about gold, and Spencer's dark grey. I was intending to create a custom diesel with yellow rods but now that I know there are so many pursuable options... my creative engine is whirring with ideas.
