Toys 'R' Us Bankruptcy & Store Closings

Frankly, in this day and age of competition from the Online stores, I can't understand why anyone would pay for something like this and especially not for this amount of money unless the purchaser is looking to run it to the ground for a Tax loss. At one time there may have been a benefit for buying a brick and mortar company but I am not so sure about the investment in todays world. Now I might understand it more if a company had a brand that it manufactured but this brand is the name only right? They would have no stock and I would guess that most of the brick and mortar stores are not owned but leased so what are they paying for...just the name...letters essentially that have no product? I don't get it unless the rich need a write off.

Thats certainly good news for Canadians for sure. I do have to wonder if they will be able to come out of the Bankruptcy Protection still able to provide the superior service and goods they had before without the parent company and will the name Brands will continue to do business with them if they lost a lot of money owed to them in the protection. And can a smaller brick and mortar operation like this survive in the Worldwide Online Toy industry. I am happy to here this news but skeptical that what we eventually see is not the same.

I’m not a “Millennial Parent” but I have young kids like many of them. Yes, we shop online but it’s mostly for things we can’t buy locally. In fact, some of the big stuff we bought at Christmas came from TRU’s online store. We still shopped at our local TRU right up until the end. Although they were more expensive than Target or Walmart, they actually HAD STUFF! If TRU was still a functioning business in the US, I would’ve bought the current Thomas assortment there instead of searching in vain at Amazon and the previously mentioned big box retailers.
