Possible Diorama Buildings...

Hi Nigels

Hope you had a good time on your get away.

What I was curious about was did they have all the licensing for the Brand named buildings because they do a lot of that in China hence my thought about pirating. All my searching around still hasn't come up with any seller that doesn't make the statement that they aren't shipping a box to keep the cost down which makes me believe there never was a box just pictures of one. Also I don't see these offered on Amazon which again makes me think they aren't licensed and possibly exact copies of some legitimate manufacturers. At any rate all this is just my curiosity as the world knows there is tons of knockoff stuff that comes out of China. Not going to stop me from ordering a set of 4 with the lights. The main reason I wanted a box was my plan was to remove the light units and resell the buildings. Thanks for replying and all the information. Going to order a set off Ebay.

Hey no problem and I understand totally where you're coming from, I prefer to have the boxes for no other reason than at least I know they are brand new and untouched if that makes sense.

It does seem you can buy them off Alibaba including the box, in fact half the problem with buying from there is that you need to buy them typically by the case and indeed multiple cases (i.e. minimum order 4 cases with 8 models in each case).

Having said that even then it is not a case of the cost of the items as they are really cheap buying this way as they are almost directly from the factory, the issue is do you need 4 x 8 (32) of the same model?!?

I suppose if you intend to sell them on, or you can get together with a bunch of friends to buy them in quantity its not so bad, but its getting over that hurdle Smile

If you do decide to buy them I may be interested in buying the kits from you if you want to shift them...

Oh, one last thing I forgot to mention about these kits - as you see some of the bricks carry what looks like printing, in fact these are actually stickers you apply. But they are way better than the type of stickers that Lego use. Instead of just a paper sticker these are vinyl ones on a clear backing. So basically you peel the backing off the sheet, position the sticker on the brick(s), press firmly and then peel off the backing leaving the stickers in place. It makes them much more professional and looking more like printed bricks Smile

If there is a downside to this its that you have to make sure you line them up correctly the first go, sometimes even without the firm press parts of the sticker may adhere to the brick so take your time and be careful is order of the day Smile

Thanks Nigels

LOL...don't think I would need that many but if these light boxes turn out to work well, who knows. Wink.

I ordered this set of 4 like yours last night from this seller as it was quite reasonable and 10% off at the time however it will take a while to get here but on the positive side they have already shipped it and with a tracking number

Different seller I think, but exactly the same set, mine took about 3-4 weeks to arrive, but I didn't really mind, not as if I wanted it urgently Smile

I am anxious for these to come and look a those light blocks and see if they can be modified into something useful for the Layout whether it be in coaches or buildings. I know I can build lighting fixtures fairly easily but I would much prefer something useful that's already done. These also may be the ticket for easily moving the block around into different buildings or trains.

This is exactly my feeling too, they are neat, small and well made. If you want an external switch it would be a doddle, just snip one of the leads to the LED unit and fit a pair of jumpers to a switch fitted in the bottom or end of a carriage etc... and bobs your auntie Smile

I may have to look into making my own, it should be fairly possible Smile

Did you ever hear back from your supplier about getting just the light blocks Nigel?
More LED lego bricks

https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?sit...eedQuery=n

shipping takes about a month.
Thanks Leyland but those aren't what we are looking for. What I understand is that the Lego lights aren't a stand alone unit, they need an electrified plate for them to plug into.

I did mate, he said "no not available" but of course that may be just to try to sell more of the kits they come in Smile

Thanks Leyland, some of those are very similar to what I've been getting in the lego kits, but seem to be powered from a USB plug. But may still be a good idea as I could re-wire them to a battery box Smile
