Clear Rubber Bands?

11 Replies, 11139 Views

I remember talking about clear rubber bands in a Thread a while back but can't locate the Posts. I believe it was one of our Members who checked some out and they would be for holding loads onto trucks. I have researched them and they look to be hair braid rubber bands but there are several kinds and sizes. After getting stiffed by one Ebay Seller that after 17 days of not shipping I had to get Ebay to refund the purchase I thought I would check back here to see if someone has some first hand experience with them. The ones I was looking at were 20mm (3/4")

Can't say I've ever looked for them, but the ones I've seen in packaging are more plastic than rubber and don't stretch as much. Maybe that's what you need to look for. But if its just to keep loads on a flatbed how about a spot of bluetack? Surely that would work just as well and would definitely not show up! Smile

Thanks Nigels
That is a good idea but I kind of looking for use in storage or display. The Pony/Pig Tail (man bunSmile ) ones are suppose to be or should be stretchier to use for for holding hair at least that is what some are reviewed as. Bags of them aren't expensive but I wanted to see what the community had to say and if anyone has experience whether with trains or their own or kids hair.
i got a pile used for doing the small braids. intially they are about the size to fit over 2/3 fingers, give or take. they stretch wider than a truck with load, and will eventually break from being stretched. [eventually as in several years]

Thanks Sunhuntin for the first hand experience with them. We can send a man to the moon and talk about sending humans to Mars but we can't make a simple clear rubber band that will last....hrump....lets get our prioritys straight World Big Grin

all good. the ones ive noticed as broken were quite well stretched, and had been such in a hot ceiling cavity. whether the heat had any impact? ive not checked the ones in the wardrobe for a while, but recall they were ok, if not a bit tired and stretched out.

these look similar to what i had, but i thought mine were bigger to begin with.

Maybe you are right about the heat in an attic deteriorating them plus when used in braids and ponytails aren't they twisted and doubled up multiple times which may lead to shorter life. I am just guessing or hoping this is the case. Those 2mm ones was the size I have been looking at hoping that they would fit perfectly in one loop without having to twist and double up. I thought by them lying flat without the twist and doubling up they would be more advisable. Thanks for the help. Smile
The dollar store or 99 Cent store should have them, I bought two packs of them a few days back.

Thanks Colin, that idea never dawned on me. How is the quality of those? Do they stretch good like a rubber band, do they break easily?

The 99 cent store ones are equally stretchy, but most all them are different, They are stretchy enough to hold rolling stock pieces together though.
