another big loader set

at this rate, i should give up on the trains and just focus on the big loader sets, lol.

ive spent the last 3 afternoons with fellow club member, mel, sorting donations for our upcoming yard sale. we are roughly 3/4 of the way done and decided to have today and tomorrow off.

i hit the thrift shops for the first time in a week, and had a great score at the first one. this set is identical to the one i had as a child, and is 100% complete, even has the instructions. [not shown, as i was scanning them]

it also has an original price sticker from a long gone department store. mum doesnt recall where my set came from, but its possible they shared a shelf once upon a time
it was priced at $4.50, and had "not running" written on the sticker. the old ucwepn tap and a couple of forced rolls, and it was running perfectly.

Very nice! Looks in great shape
What Luck! Finding a toy from your childhood in such good condition and you sure can't beat that price. Do you have to pay Ucwepn royalties for using the "Old Rap" Big Grin

Lovely looking set Sun, as you have several do you build one big layout or just take them in turns? Smile

thanks, guys.

the set doesnt look like it ever got used more than a couple of times.

not a bad idea, super. im sure he would like that, lol. the box is a style i havent seen much of, and can only recall one or two on ebay.

nigel, as yet i have only used the store display at shows. the other sets i have never set up. i do make use of the chassis and covers, though. i more buy for those and the different box styles than anything else.

edit: after hunting through the old photo albums, i finally found a photo of myself with it already set up, dated jan 1991. safe to assume it was a gift for christmas 1990. still hunting to see if theres any photos of it under the tree to confirm.
