Trackmaster Set

As anyone who knows me I'm not really interested in the newer Trackmaster v2 (Revolution) or whatever you call the latest FP incarnation. But I was shopping in Asda (supermarket in UK) and found this set at the bargainous price of £25 so thought I would share with you guys in case anyone is interested;

This set is one of the reasons I don't buy Trackmaster playsets... usually.
All the features only work one way, and sometimes not at all.
Old trains don't work on the mountain, new train barely bounce along through the ride... and the 'exclusive' white track bothers me somewhat.

Doesn't seem that great of an investment in my eyes.

Sad but true, this is why you can get a large TM set with two engines for about USD $30 while individual engines go for $10 (or $15 if they have add'l tender).

I don't know how many revisions Trackmaster sets went through but I have an older one, Henry which uses the smaller more grabby teeth wheels with lots more torque, however slower and noisy but it feels like it's got a lot more personality then the newer silent ones that just roll straight, and won't roll free with no batteries so you can't play manually. The newer ones (Emily and Shooting Star Gordons I picked up) are targeted towards younger kids who just want to see trains move fast and pull some action stunts like this one.

This one does look interesting when it "slides" on top of the mountain, I give credit to FP on that. However they designed it, it looks great on the videos. I hope it doesn't get stuck or push thomas over on top.
I only see the words "Icy Mountain Drift". Perhaps this is the way that Initial D will be revived? Big Grin

This has to be the best Initial D parody since the Icy Mountain Drift set.

As I said guys, not for me, but someone out there may want it, the white track is quite different and would make a good addition maybe to someones christmas layout if they can't get any PlaRail from Japan Smile

Nice it looks cool, I can see why kids would like it, shame it's not compatible with the old track/engines
