Treasures from Japan part 2!!

11 Replies, 9725 Views

As alluded to in another thread/post I had a large shipment to the tune of a $220 shipping and fees bill on top of the items cost.. Undecided. Needless to say I will be done for a little while with buying especially since Christmas is around the corner. But I was very excited for lots of these items as I have been waiting for quite a while on a few.

Let's start with the box.. Absolutely massive.. I put a Thomas beside it for comparison..

First up is the lot of express coaches. These were dirt cheap so could not pass them up. I have not seen them before with yellow wheels, are these replacements or stock?

Next up is the Gordon which I was hoping was an Angry Gordon, but was not. But still is in very nice shape.

Next is some Pokémon coaches. These may be destined for AC's collection. Will have to see if he still is looking.

Up next is the Thomas and Black James set. I have not had a chance to open it yet but the first impression is very good.

Next is the Western Steamer Tokyo Disney Colorado set.

Plarail T-7 Toby, used but looks nice. Came with another lot.

This lot I was really needing, and I got a steal on it for around 3000¥, just look at all of the rail clips. Now I need another Monorail..

NOW FOR THE GOOD STUFF!!!!

ALL 6 of the second generation talking Plarail engines. I was not looking for these but very excited to see them and a huge thanks to Muddy for the info and advice on price/value of them. Thomas comes in a different set which I could not find, but I found him loose. They are not BNIB but look good so far.

And FINALY, the last item that I found for the shipment. Again, thanks to Muddy for the info and advice. This is the second one know to exist so far with the box. This box is a little rougher than the one Muddy has, but still nice. Also Lady was missing, but I have her from another one of these sets I had which I put with this one.

A super sized load for sure Ripley and quite exciting. I love opening huge packages like this as it takes so long to open and savor the moments. I can say I have never seen red Express Coaches with yellow wheels but that doesn't mean there weren't any. Is that a red Express Coach withe that talking James? Really nice items and worth the part time job you had to get to afford them. Big Grin

Thanks Super. Yes, James had a red express attached to him. The buttons for the talking activation are in the coach as well. I recently scored a James like this on eBay that I had another thread on. Here is what that one looked like.

Yellow wheeled Express Coaches? Definitely replacements. Thomas rolling stock usually has the normal grey colour. Pity Gordon is not the one you were expecting, but that's alright. Are the black couplings (Pokémon cars) factory painted, or did someone paint them like that? Thomas is the most important, so I don't see why he wasn't sold like the others. Do you know if the (re)boxed ones work or not? I see Edward and James are upside down in box, whereas Percy and Henry face correctly and Gordon faces the other way. Again, they could've done a better job with the TATMR chase set, by including Thomas instead of Splodge and having a collapsing bridge with a barge for D10 to fall into. I'm surprised there wasn't any toyline that had a (proper) set for recreating that scene. Either way, excellent purchase.

Yeah the Pokémon cars have the couplings black from the factory set. I have 5 others and they all have the black couplings.. for the talking engines, I need to test them all out. I will probably post a new thread for them with a bit more detail, but even if they are not working I think I can get them going. The Thomas comes with the coal station set but yeah would have been nice to have one separate too.

Haha. Yep that was a teaser. I have the monorail track in place for the Christmas layout so should be able to get some pics soon.

Thanks on the James pic. That was actually taken on top of two tote lids. I had stuff in the floor where I typically take the pics so set that up and figured it looked pretty cool. Big Grin

Excellent selection there Mr Ripley, seems you are becoming Muddy Junior if you ask me, now when that next gold Thomas pops up I think I know who will be after it lol!

If you need spare wheels for the coaches let me know I got a bag of wheels so may be able to help Smile
Happily collecting things all my life... Big Grin
