st john ambulance club visit

2 Replies, 3398 Views

last night, my model railway club hosted a group from the st john ambulance youth division, who were doing their hobbies badge.

figuring they would be older, around 8 or 9, i took out my 9v metroliner lego train and a few more modern accessories, instead of the usual thomas. the kids that turned up were closer to 6 or 7, and were more interested in the new lego babies than the train itself.

Don't think I have ever heard of a "st john ambulance youth division". Might this be like a club that learns how to perform first aid and such? But you say they are earning a Hobbies Badge so might this be the the Boy/Girl Scouts?
yes, super. im guessing they learn basic first aiding, and learn more as they go along.

they seem to do badges along the same as line as scouts. we have never hosted them before, and prior to being contacted about it, none of our members had even heard of them. we also have a st johns hill here in town, and being told it was a youth group, many of us guessed it would be like a church group or similar.

i remember having peers at high school who were like junior first aiders and were onsite during sporting events and things.

st john ambulance is one of the ambulance providers over here. not sure if they are in any other country?
