Shows $5 for me in the US as well.
Those sort of prices ($25) are often the sort of international charges quoted from the USA to the UK, as NZ is even further I would not be surprised. Having said that I don't think it is even faintly realistic as me and Mr Ripley have found cheaper shipping methods between us...
Happily collecting things all my life...
thanks guys. be nice if it was only $5 to post down here, too. maybe i should move to the states?
i know ive caved before on global shipping, and always felt like i got a big rip off when stuff actually arrives. think i will leave this one, no way am i coughing up a total of $80NZD for a loco that needs a roof put on. if it was mint, maybe.
As a seller I love Ebay's Global shipping program as it takes away the hassle of me doing all the paper work and a trip to the Post Office. As a buyer I have not had to use it so I am not sure how it is on that end. Looking at the total of $24.54 USD shipping they are quoting to your country Sun I don't see it as an over charge. If you look at it from the same way as it would be buying from Jauce, a third party agent, then assuming that price includes the $5.00 for the local shipping in the USA then the cost for shipping directly from the US to your country is $19.54 and that is for International Priority and I assume any Customs charges. I believe as a business the Ebay Global Shipping Program automatically charge the Customs and Duties fees that may not be charged to you if the package was mailed from an individual. Sellers have no say in the costs of the Global Shipping program and, I am not exactly sure of this, I don't believe they charge any Fees to buyer for using it unlike using Jauce or other Agents in other parts of the world. Sure, there is the super slow, less trustworthy, delivery options that may or may not get the cost down closer to $10 but its probably the rate of exchange that is the killer here. So all taken into account, I am not seeing this as too bad.
thanks, super. i going to just leave it, ive decided. it seems excessive for such a small item. another will come up, in better shape, too. i know post form the states is mega bucks, so maybe thats where the issue comes in.
we have an extremely high customs threshold here, and ive not yet breached it... $300NZD including post cost, so this loco would in no way attract any furthur local fees or duties.
Yes the global shipping program does not charge any additional cost other than shipping and import duty
