Rarest Plarail Thomas set/ Diesel 10 Lady chase set

7 Replies, 8578 Views

Well today seems to have been a very good day for train collecting, and with the weekend holiday coming the postal service really came through with an early delivery...YES!! YES!! YES!! Big Grin
We must first thank the talented Mr.Ripley, and also Super, both of whom we're instrumental in this piece's acquisition to our collection!!
This is thee rarest Plarail Thomas set in the world.
It is called The Diesel 10 Lady chase set and until just very recently it was not even known to exist... Produced in 2000, it took 16 years for the western world to discover it!! This box is the only known example of its packaging and is also the only source for the wiki image ...Complete with original Magic Railroad promotional movie flyer as well...it's just beautifulSmile
The box has been opened, but its components, track, special front hook characters, and engines are unused and still sealed!! It is BNw/openNMB!!
Still can't believe that we were just so lucky enough to pull off getting it...
Here are some pics:

Simply Beautiful. Wonderful set, and probably the best and safest place for this set to be in. Big Grin. That is awesome the trains are still sealed.

It really could have been anyone else who got this set, since everyone has the same chance of getting this set, be it a father or mother who merely wanted to buy the most expensive Thomas set he could find, only to give it to an already spoiled son or daughter, or anyone else. But knowing that such a beautiful set has fallen into the hands of someone of this forum, given the respect and care every member has for this certain kind of toy, is in my opinion just as beautiful. Congrats!

Thank you fred16850 Smile I must concur...It really does seems it was meant to be!! Our collection was meant to house a complete representation of this line of Thomas toys, its history, and to serve as a living library of preservation...This set will be cherished for many generations, cared for, and protected with the all the love and respect it is worthy of!! As, for the "kid" who got it, I realize all parents are biased to their own children, but Tully truly is one of kindest people I have ever known, and I often wonder just how I could have ever been so lucky to get to be his dad?!? He will inherit this collection one day, and already understands this piece's significants and that of our collection, and his responsibilities to maintaining it for the future...This set is HOME now!! Saved and SAFE... LOVED & FOREVER appreciated. Smile

There are only a handful of sets that are deemed worthy of ultra-rare status in the world of collecting this line of Thomas trains...The Donald & Douglas snow plow set, and the Thumper Boulder set are two great examples...Most people have never even heard of them, but even those who have know that they are rarely seen and rarely come up for auction, and fetch massive premiums because they're so scarce... They're hardly ever seen at auction, but their existence IS known of...
THIS SET has never been seen before and had remained completely unknown to the western world for 16 years since it was first released back in 2000!!
No other complete set W/BOX has ever been seen, and this is the first and only example ever to see auction... It's as rare as rare gets.
It is ultra-rare multiplied by infinity Wink lol
