TOMY 2005 Rosie (And other engines I found, planning to get)

Hello everyone!

It's been quite a long time now.. I've been struggling with some school homeworks and projects along the way. For now, I got something special to show y'all.
Before my classes starts, I had a shopping trip with my grandmother in a "rare finds" place (normally antique stores here in the Philippines, mostly with old clothes, shoes, etc.). When looking around some old and classic toys from the past, I came across a classic Trackmaster Thomas (2013 model before Revolution), which is a Celebration-themed Thomas. Next to another section of more toys on the shelf, I noticed some few Thomas & Friends models at the bottom shelf. There was Trackmaster Duncan & the most rare TOMY Rosie. Each of them cost PHP280 (6.04 USD), so I got lucky.

Rosie's face printing got slightly scratched off. Some bits of her eyebrows are still there, and her freckles are slightly faded/worn off. Her front buffers seemed to be bent downwards, thinking that she's been biffing and buffing something with her previous owner. When I got home to inspect her battery compartment, surprise surprise, her battery compartment got leaked since she was heavy just because her old battery was still inside her while she's still on sale on the shelf.

I did a good clean with a dab of alcohol, disassembled her motor (the screws were triangle instead of the standard star screw, which makes it a pain to unscrew, so I replaced them with spare ones that came from my broken-switch Doraemon model.) and cleaned her gears, her switch-lever and the motor. After a few tries with a battery and with a tap and bang, she became useful in running again. Big Grin

And yes as always, a bit of black marker on the rims of her red wheels for another custom once again.

I'll explain the things of the engines that I found earlier after I purchased the model.
For Trackmaster Duncan, his painted details are slightly scratched off and his face print seems to be ok. His traction rods are a bit bent and his driving wheels don't have his grey traction tires (savaged some spare from my broken TOMY 1993 Henry).
For Trackmaster Celebration Thomas, he seems to be in a good condition.

In another antique store, I came across the HiT Toys Entertainment Bill/Ben (I can't tell which one of the two since the paint *except for the battery cover* was faded off) with 2 Sodor Fuel Tankers hooked up onto Bill/Ben. And also, I discovered a grey truck (like a Troublesome Truck but no face.) with some white spill detailing which seems to be a snow splat on it (also HiT Toys brand). Any idea where that truck came from? I'd love to know

Anyways, that's all for now Smile

Thanks for the pun, I usually don't play Pokemon GO! when the app was already released. And yes, I hope plenty of the models will be around somewhere. Character and real life locos are very hard to find to chase after. Smile

Plarail and Pokemon GO are actually pretty useful when used together: http://en.rocketnews24.com/2016/07/12/ho...ngle-step/
