The First Tomy Monorail?

Would this be the first Tomy Monorail ever? And what did the rails look like back in 1966? I didn't even know they had real monorails back then

This page is the extent of the info I've found on this thing online: http://homepage1.nifty.com/TBR/prc/prc-08/01.html

You'd be surprised how old some technologies like mono-rails are in the real world.

For example the big thing of the moment is the Japanses Linear Liner Maglev yes? Well believe it or not they had a working Maglev (admittedly only a slow shuttle) working at Gatwick Airport between the two airport terminals for decades. I don't know when exactly it was put in, but I reckon probably back in the 80's.

Ironically not so many years ago they decided to re-furb it for whatever reason and although they kept the monorail they decided to do away with the maglev carriages and replace them with ones that run on rubber wheels - talk about a backward step lol!!

Thanks for the info fellas. Those pictures are pretty neat and vintage looking. Looks like the rails are exclusive to this monorail. Wonder if it runs smoothly with no wobble.
buy it, let us know how it goes Cool

I would be more interested in it if it were a better conditioned and worked. Plus that is for the monorail vehicle only no rails or pillars. Wonder what the second on/off switch is for, lights maybe sound?
