HO Scale? What did I buy now?

Round two of the Longest Garage sale day out.. Big Grin

Well, no Trackmaster, Tomy, or Plarail today...Undecided

But... I did find something else..

I will be the first to admit I really know little to nothing about the "real" trains, meaning HO, N, G, Etc.. I have mainly been into the Tomy/Trackmaster/Plarail range. That said I did have some small HO sets when I was little. Also my dad has a huge layout and tons of "O-27" ( I think that's right) gauge trains. Anyway...

I found this box of stuff packed under a table today. It was $10, so I figured why not. I also had a $10 bill in my pocket that was burning a hole.. Lol.. So I had to buy it. I am not sure what I have. If it was junk, a good buy, worth selling, etc.. The engine is what caught my attention. It looks to be a Bachman Juniper?

Thoughts on this one?

Nice one buddy, it looks like you may need some new controller and maybe some new track as its not really obvious what track you got there. But generally speaking that's probably the cheapest part as you can just buy a cheap starter set to get all that.

I would say the engine alone is easily worth $30 if it runs right, the other rolling stock a couple of bucks each if cleaned up, so no matter how you like to look at it you've easily got your money back even if you just sold it all on Smile

looks like a good haul. you may well have a mix of couplers, as some suppliers have their own special kind that arent too compatible with others.
it looks to be HO scale, and the tyco controller essentially confirms that as i dont think they made any other scales.

i thinking the jupiter is missing a smoke stack. i have a bachmann one, with different colors. on this page, under "other locos" http://sunsthomasandfriends.weebly.com/h...rains.html

would love to see some clear photos of the rolling stock. looks like a santa fe crane, and a chattanooga caboose?

Thanks Sun. Yeah the engine looks to be missing something on top. I did a quick search before and had seen that one you have, but could not find the one with the same colors I had. There is a light on top but there looks like there should be a cover maybe for it.

If the cars it looks like the log car which dumps, the Crain, maintenance car, and the large caboose are Tyco branded. The others are Bachman. It looks like the coupler on the engine is broken too. There was one other flat bed car with rails but the rails are mostly all snapped off.

Still a good haul even with the damage, you could probably fix it yourself with a bit of plastic tube and some judicious painting Smile

Scale models are awesome in the level of detail, you should check out the 'N' gauge stuff too, the beauty of those is you can build a truly huge layout in a realatively small space Big Grin
