Surprisingly some of the older Triang trains - at least to me - look nicer than the current models. For example the coronation class loco's, the old Triang ones were produced in a gloss finish just like the real things were when new.
Now I know the current Hornby models are finer level of details and have a matt finish to supposedly make them more realistic, just like the weathered versions. However for me I'd like to have a nice glossy finish one as an option as well
Happily collecting things all my life...
