Evangelion Shinkansen! I know KATO has expressed interest in an N Scale version. One wonders whether a Plarail Advance version is next?

I'm surprised that JNR allowed a perfectly good train to be a rolling graffiti gallery! I am joking, but man, isn't that the most colorful train you've ever seen?

At first I wasn't interested in another Shinkansen because we have so many. I am even considering thinning out the ones we aren't that interested in. Now that I have seen this one and Sunhuntin is all gaga for it, I too am on the waiting list as I am going to sell the plain old Shinkansen 500 series we have and replace it with this one. Wonder why this one is so much more expensive than the normal three car releases. I assume that this new release will have the new Plarail Flat Drive Motors and this train states it has two speeds like the original models, my question is does anyone have a new Plarail Flat drive 2 speed motor? How does it run and sound?

Lovely to see this train sporting the colors of Unit 1 from the anime series "Neon genesis evangelion". In the series earth comes under attack from "Angels" and must fight for survival, there are many deeply religious symbolic images in the series so it may not be for everyone hehe.

That explains why the train is more expensive than the normal 3 car units. Like the Disney trains you have to pay more for the rights. Am I correct to assume that this 500 Shinkansens is not part of the movie/tv series but just a color theme on a Shinkansen?

correct I don't recall any shinkansens in the series, there were sometimes some trains when the main character would travel or in the background of battles etc.

I've actually seen a Kato 'N' Gauge version of this listed on Jauce, it looks absolutely stunning, but boy is it expensive. One alternative is that someone was listing some 'vinyl skins' so that you could mod a standard N 500, but I think that would be incredibly fiddly to do, error prone and likely to end up a mess lol!

Have to say I would love to have this and/or the Kato versions, more so the latter if I can find it at a reasonable price
