For Toby, I just messed up the paint. I've still been working on him and Henrietta, but can't get the top details right, ESPECIALLY the funnel... I've been trying to paint his funnel black for at least a month now, but to no avail. It keeps seeping through the tiny exposed edges inbetween the plastic and masking tape, or getting smudged all over the place if I move my finger too close to scrape off excess. When I thought I had finally gotten it right, I tried masking from spots on his roof that wouldn't come off with a new coat of paint. I thought I gotten the right color mixture, but when it dried, it became a darker shade, and more Trackmaster Spencer-looking than light grey.. Now I can't get it off, and I'm waiting for my parents to find time to go out and get a small bottle of turpentine.

Oh, I thought you meant you screwed up the motor or something. Remember, every mistake you make now, is a learning experience for later. Hope that turpentine doesn't affect the plastic. You may be using the wrong type of masking tape. Here is what I use, its easy obtained from your local home center and works on new paint too. The smallest I found was 3/4 of an inch. Don't be confused with Scotches regular Blue Painters Tape, this one is way better and is very pliable to work it around curves and such. One roll is enough to last a lifetime for model painting. http://www.scotchblue.com/wps/portal/3M/...207&rt=rud

I've already thrown away the labels from my masking tape... I don't think it was that, but it wasn't scotch either. It was just ordinary white masking tape. I have another one, but don't use it because it's a different brand. It also seems to be made in a a different way, with a less condensed pattern and doesn't stick as well.

a plastic container

Yes I have several large tubs that I store trains in, my biggest tub is inaccessible at the moment
Well, that's upsetting. Not to act rude, but I keep all my trains within reach. Even my model trains. Just being separated by some wood wouldn't stop me from being away from my trains.
I AM NOT DEAD. Just inactive.
