Bumper Tomy Thomas Auction Win

9 Replies, 10935 Views

With many thanks to Mr Ripley for finding and pointing out an eBay(uk) auction I was able to win a great job lot consisting of 14 Thomas loco's, Knapford Station, 3 way Points, Road Slopes and two buckets of trainsets all boxed and looking as new Big GrinBig Grin

The parcel only just arrived today so I've not had a chance to unpack it and check the items closely, but they look as advertised as being 'as new'.

Here's the pics from the original auction to whet your appetite;

WOW...that is a fantastic collection and an Oliver to boot. Are the buckets both the same with the C12 set? You have to trust someone that keeps the original boxes and places the items back in them.

To be honest Super I've not had time to unpack the box yet so I don't know if the buckets are the same or even if they include the engines/rolling stock. But based on the condition of the other trains and boxes I am highly hopeful they will be in there.

Apparently they were bought by a 'train mad grandfather' for his grandson to play with at his place, but were rarely used. To be honest I can believe this as they look in that sort of condition.

And finally yes, as you noticed there is a fully complete, boxed Oliver there as well, which is I think how Mr Ripley first found the auction. He is destined for a little trip in a Jeremy to join Mr Ripley's collection as I don't personally need him having a brand new unopened example in my 'future box' (what have you started) and another mint condition example available for 'play' Smile

The buckets are a new one to me, not seen one before, but they do look interesting, can't wait to find time to unpack it all and check it out. But I suspect it may have to wait till the weekend as work is heavy at the moment Big Grin

Great job Nigel. I am glad you got this one. I would have bid, but there would be no way to collect being in the U.S. I am hoping to find a score like this some day. It gives hope that these lots are still out there. Enjoy the Un-boxing and keep us posted.

@Muddy,

Ahaha. If only we knew each other earlier, I would have given you that box from Lady. Tongue I threw away too many supposedly rare boxes.

This is astonishing. The fact that about 90% of the trains are tomica world and the tomica world thomas and lady are priceless. Great lot

Thanks for the info and congratulations guys, I knew it was a good lot when I saw it, but I never realised there were rarer items amongst it.

Of course my grateful thanks also have to go the incredible Mr Ripley for pointing me at it in the first place as I may simply never have seen the listing as now I'm back at full time work I don't have the time to trawl through the listings on a daily basis.

You are quite welcome. Was glad to hear you got it, as it looked like an amazing lot.
