What is a good/fair price for talk n action Toby and diesel 10?

with the green track, as wepn said, there are 6 pieces. originally they would have had stickers for the consumer to put on. if they are missing or not put on, the best way is to count the dashes between the squares. each one will have different amounts of dashes as follows []l[] []ll[] []lll[] []llll[] []lllll[] []llllll[] i think those are correct.

Well, I got them. I was really thinking someone was going to steal them away at the last second, so I put in a really high bid, but to my surprise there were no other bidders. I think the one thing that was good for me on this one was the poor listing title. The seller did not have Tomy, trackmaster, etc.. In the title.

At any rate the lot had,

- TnA diesel 10 missing Dodge though. I and checking with the seller to see maybe if they have it and just did not list it.

- TnA Toby

- TnA James

- another James non TnA, and a random Thomas.

Total cost was $19.99. + 10.50 shipping.

I am checking with the seller to also see if they have any of the track for these. They had another lot of track that had 3 pieces but mayber there is more.

Thanks again for the help on price, it sounds like this was a pretty good deal. Now to find out if they work.

Sorry about not posting the link to this, maybe was a bit selfish but I did not want to star a bidding war on them. If I decide to sell I will definitely fist check here.

nothing wrong with keeping a link to yourself when its something you want. i do it, and i expect others to do the same, even friends. if im curious i will ask for the link with the assurance i wont bid against the other person.

a local auction site puts the username on top of photos, so when ive shared the photo, i have gone so far as to remove that username to protect against other bidders as best as possible.

i will often share the link after the auction is done and dusted, though, whether ive won it or not.

Fantastic score Ripley. Look forward for you to fill us in when you receive them.

I actually discourage any posting of sellers links if one is interested in it. Furthermore if one wants to post a link to a listing that one thinks other members may be interested in I suggest that be in the Trading Zone which is for members only. No sense in advertising a good deal to the daily hundreds and weekly thousands of visitors to BluePlasticTracks which could create loads of bidding competition.

Well, I received the TnA diesel 10, Toby, and James. At first glance they are in nice physical condition. Paint is good, not really and scratches, and no broken connectors.

That said none of the 3 worked. All due to corrosion on the battery terminals. I replaced the two corroded ones in Toby and he is now working. I do have a question though. Does anyone know what they are called or know where to get the small brass rivets that hold the terminal to the plastic? I have looked for brass rivets, tube rivets, etc.. But not seeing the correct thing to use. Has anyone replaced these? Temporarily I have then unattached, but secure under pressure. I will keep looking but thought I would ask.

Diesel 10 is definitely the Japaneese version as expected. I connected a test battery pack to the bottom of the terminals and he comes right on. So next I will fix his terminals. For James I still need to take a loom at him, but he had corrosion as well.

I will post some pics as soon as I can.

------------
Update:
I found some of the rivets online at Walmart of all places, so I am going to take a look tomorrow and see if they have them in the store. If so I will get them and try them out on a test piece first. I will let you all know how it goes.

The rivets were a bust. I found some on amazon I am going to order but for now used hot glue. I got D10 working tonight. Very cool and like Muddy said, very complex. I had to use a spare set of black wheels too as the gear was stripped on the ones it had. Actually this has been the case on all three TnA engines.

I started on James tonight. He was by first the worse of the three. I had to replace the bottom battery terminal, and some one had tried a fix at one time with the red wire, it was replaced with a very heavy gauge wire, so while troubleshooting I swapped it out. I felt like a moron through. I thought the motor was dead because it would not turn over when testing with my battery tester. I soldiered in a new one, and same thing. Swapped the batteries out in my tester and voila.. But I luckily got the gearbox and motor all back together. I got the wires connected back and it worked while disassembled, but once assembled, it would not come on. I will look a bit more tomorrow maybe.

That said, James is Japanese too. Is that a rare version? I was thinking it was going to be English.

That's great!! Yes all the Japanese T'nA's are 15 year old toys by now, and unless you live in Japan VERY hard to find in the western world...ALSO there is a fuse underneath that piece of tape aboave/ between the battery terminals..I don't know it's value, but I had to replace it on James once to get him working... Congrats and good luck!!Smile
Play nice & have fun!!Smile

Well all are working now. They have a few final touches to do like swap the wheels back out once the originals are fixed, fix the battery terminals better once I receive my rivets.

As promised here is a pic of all 4 that I have now.

Does someone have a translation for what they say in Japaneese? I tried using the Google translate app but it did not work too well.

I must say again these are very cool trains but are very complex and it seems like once one thing is fixed something else breaks. All in good fun though. Now I know I can fix one of I get the chance to get another one. Now to find the Gordon and Henry.

Nice work Ripley, they look great and you have plenty of track too! Just a guess but maybe the English ones say the same.
