Tomica Fire Rescue set..

Hello, well I was out today and found a consignment sale. I picked this little at up. I had seen these on eBay but have not had one yet. I must admit the cardboard volcano is a PIA (pain in the ____) but the rest of it is pretty cool. What our your guys thoughts on these sets? Cool? Junk? Keeper? Thanks.

I have never seen a set like this one before with cardboard pieces. At least I don't remember seeing one. A first for me, its pretty neat. We do have a different fire department Tomica train called the Fire Liner but it was sold individually and not in a set like this.

Yeah it is pretty neat, just the cardboard is a pain. I found one on Amazon as well, so it looks to still be available.

Ahh...now I have seen this box plenty of times just not set up. Thanks. Must be a pretty lonely job sitting around waiting for a volcano to erupt.
I found a load of these sets (and another one as well, maybe a snow variant? I can't really remember) dumped for cheap in one of those stores that basically buy out old stock that wouldn't sell or from places going out of business - I think they were selling them for around $25 US. I passed at the time because I didn't think I would use much of anything other then the track.

While on the subject of track, I found and did buy a plastic bag with some TOMY track and the unpowered first car at a different buyout store, I think it was an oval of track but I really can't remember. I may still have the cardboard insert and definitely still have the bag. It was the last time I saw any TOMY blue track at retail, and it was around a year ago.
I have a website where I have been writing about and photographing many of the sets and pieces that I find interesting.
