TOMY tracks question

Hello all.
I have been searching through the web, but seems cannot find any store in Hong Kong have those.
I have lots of blue TOMY tracks, which I really like to have fun with my son, but after the trackmaster redesign all the grey tracks, all the store are selling those and none of the blue tracks are available. Even the trains are all newly redesign.
So I am wondering, if I buy those new grey tracks, does that means I can no longer combine those blue tracks with the new grey one?
Also, those newly design train seems to have different wheels, so will they still work on the blue tracks? or it will get stuck?
Thanks for all the help.

Hello. In my opinion, I have found it best to have a split layout. Meaning have of my set/layout is The new Revolution series with the grey track. Then I have a blue track side too. That said, the older trains will run on the newer grey track except for some of the hills, which they tend to slip on from my experience. The newer trains need some modification to run well on the newer grey track and even the tan track to run the best.

As far as connecting them, there are adapters to go from blue to tan, then tan to new grey, but I do not know of one to go from blue to grey. The adapters can be found on eBay as well as other sources. Let us know if there are any questions. I am sure others will reply with their thoughts on what may be best as well. Thanks.

Thanks for your input, Ripley.
So for my understanding, is it the latest version Trackmaster train need some modification on the wheels?
Because everytime I tried them on the blue tracks, it get stuck between tracks, just need a little push and it can go further a little, then get stuck again.

I believe it is the "activation tab" on the bottom. I have not modified mine since I have two independent layouts setup, but I know others on here have and I believe it works ok. I believe it is a matter of just filing that center piece down. The wheels I know can likely be swaped out as some have done that too, but would be a bit more involved.
Ucwepn has a couple of videos about what has to be done with the new Trackmaster Revolution trains in order for them to run freely on the blue Tomy tracks as best they can. When I get a moment I will try to find then unless someone else can beat me to it.
Here you go my friend Smile
