early tomy train

those are from roughly 1992, possibly earlier. after this, they went to the plarail style engines, with hook and eye couplers. tomy thomas in this style existed until 09, when HIT trackmaster took over. then fisher-price bought the line before bringing out the trackmaster we know and tolerate today.
one advert ive seen actually plugs the LEGO compatibility. i adore the old engines as they are how i got started all those years ago. the thomas engines are reasonably rare, but all are fairly easy to find in the UK. i recommend following my repair guide and giving your engines a clean and lube. at some 30 years old, they will be in need of some help. http://sunsthomasandfriends.weebly.com/v...ry-go.html

They are great! They sure weren't going for realism in the looks department but as a toy they are a very charming type with allot of play value. There's a special track piece that activates the reverse gear (YES they have reverse too!)
thanks all, for your help, i have put them on ebay to help fund my lads( ok and my own) collection of trackmaster, got my eye on the trackmaster rocky with the crane at next, so hopefully these will sell.
