Well today the post man has been very kind to me, first of all we have my latest plarail advance purchase directly from Japan taking only around 10 days and no import issues;

The sheer quality of these products amazes me, the level of detail on such small (~ N Gauge) trains is stupendous and at the prices they are sold for they are an absolute steal even if you only wanted them as static display pieces. I can see myself purchasing the entire range of loco's over a period.

Now the other delivery some brand new sealed old stock of Tomy Thomas products;

1st we have the "Steam along water tower", very handy as I recently aquired one of those loco's Smile

Then we have the "Skarloey" loco set;

and finally the "Sodor Quarry Loader Set;

I wonder what tomorrow holds? Smile

Until then I am one very happy collector chappie Smile

Fantastic Nigel. Don't you just love it when the postman brings packages. Does that Steam Along Thomas water tower actually refill the engines water reservoir? Does he stop and line up perfectly?
I've not actually had it out of the box yet, but yes it is supposed to be functional and based on the box illustration it should line up perfectly as that is where the water reservoir filler is Smile
That is so cool, I didn't know they had something like this. I wonder if this would also line up and work with the Steam along D-51 engine from Tomy.
little tip ... only use distilled water

Thanks for the tip Trainsandplanes and welcome to the community. Smile
I must admit, the advance sets get my vote. They are so detailed and also the layout can be small and hold more action. They are also great value IMHO. Shame they don't make single locomotives, that would be really cool.

I think Tomy should be applauded for making them (mostly) backward compatible with the existing track as well - I know they have a few issues with things like points, buts its a lot cheaper just replacing a few points and stop/go sections than having to replace the entire layout. On top of that having two running side-by-side looks pretty realistic in stations etc... Smile

Do they still make the Advance system?
Oh yes, it seems very popular still in Japan and I believe that TootalyThomas on here runs a site where you can buy them if you don't want to import them Smile
