Powerful Gordon found at yard sale

While on the regular yard sale rounds, I ended up at a multi-family garage sale. One of the families involved had lived in Japan until 2004. Long story short, in a box marked $2 apiece with some TOMY, HiT Toys and early TrackMaster engines was the TOMY Powerful Gordon.

For a total of $20 I picked up Powerful Gordon, two James, Edward, a tenderless Neville and Douglas, Bill and Ben, Percy, a troublesome truck and a red carrage.

Bill and Ben, Douglas, Edward, and the trucks are HiT Toys.

Percy, Neville, Powerful Gordon and James are all TOMY- Percy is 1995 for both dates, Gordon is '95 TOMY and 2001 Gullane, James is 1994 TOMY and 2002 Gullane, Neville is 2005 for both.

The other James is 2009 Mattel.
Most of them seem to have been introduced to sand or water at some point, most of the stickers are decimated and I'm on day two of cleaning sand and grit out of the drive units that I didn't have replacements for.

(If someone has scans of HiT Toys Bill/Ben stickers that you could send me an image file of, that'd be sweet! I don't have other models of them and I'd like to get them looking nice again. Edward's tender isn't too big of a concern, I have another Edward, and there's very little chance I'm attempting to work on Powerful Gordon further then finding a battery cover. I can live with it missing cab windows.)
It was sure a shock to find a Powerful Gordon in the U.S., and for sale at two dollars no less! He's the first one I got running, and aside from being incredibly noisy he runs much faster then a regular engine.
I have a website where I have been writing about and photographing many of the sets and pieces that I find interesting.

Yeah, that was pretty much the plan. From what I've read, it uses the 2003-current Plarail design, so I'll probably pick one of those up.

Some Walmarts in the US still have regular Gordons for sale for less than $10. If you aren't satisfied with the Powerful Gordon maybe you could switch out the face and have a brand new Powerful Gordon. BTW...welcome to the community.
